What stage are you at in your apprenticeship journey?
Near the end with 2 months to go.
What made you decide to undertake an apprenticeship? How did you come to work in print?
My Father works at Darley and made me aware of an Apprenticeship position in Pre-Press. Since completing that, there was another opportunity but this time in Print – I jumped at the chance.
Tell us about some of the key knowledge, skills, and behaviours you have developed since starting your apprenticeship.
I can now virtually operate the Printing Press with limited help and am very confident at passing my EPA.
Tell us about a typical day at work for you.
Recently, I have been undertaking the number one role. this means setting up, running and monitoring the press. This has helped me to become more confident and efficient on the machine.
What’s the most enjoyable part of your apprenticeship?
Being given the chance to change departments and the opportunity to learn a new skill and trade.
What do you see yourself doing on achievement of your apprenticeship?
I have discussed the options with my training co-ordinator and Martin outlined that there are Leadership course and qualifications available.
Would you recommend apprenticeships in the print industry to others, and what would you tell them about the industry?
I already recommended apprenticeships in the print industry, I’ll still do it. The most passionate about industry is the fact that everyday I’m learning something new, it is very interesting progress, not easy but achievable if you are interesting.
