WELCOMING OUR NEWEST APPRENTICESHIP CHAMPION
We are thrilled to announce that the Apprenticeship Champion Network (ACN) is continuing to grow, and it’s thanks to the brilliant support of industry leaders who are passionate about developing future talent.
Each new Champion that joins brings fresh perspective, valuable experience, and a shared belief in the power of apprenticeships to shape the future of print. It’s incredibly encouraging to see so many companies stepping forward to raise awareness, inspire the next generation, and collaborate to strengthen our industry.
Today, we’re proud to welcome another exceptional individual to the ACN family – Russell Taysom and allpay Limited.
All Pay Ltd
Allpay Ltd are a leading payments specialist in the UK, facilitating the seamless collection and distribution of funds between organisations and their customers.
Russell Taysom is an award winning Illustrator, currently a Print Operative Apprentice at allpay Limited. He has recently become an Apprenticeship Champion as he is soon to enter the role of a Junior Pre-press Technician.
We’re thrilled to welcome Russell to the ACN and we look forward to following his apprenticeship journey with Allpay Ltd.
What is your experience with apprenticeships, and how have they benefited your company? “Doing an apprenticeship has been an amazing experience for me. I have learnt so much whilst doing it, not just about the mechanics of printing but also about the entire print industry. One part I especially enjoyed was the assignment on communication theory. I have always been interested in communication but hadn’t realised that it was something that could be scientifically investigated. The purpose of print is communication and we can serve this purpose better by understanding communication theory.”
How would you like to impact the print industry? “There are so many areas of my career in the print industry I am excited about. Beyond making beautiful things I am excited about innovations in print, particularly making the print industry more sustainable. Through a mixture of managed forests, renewable energy and vegetable based inks we can make carbon-negative printed materials. Print has always had a positive effect on the world by communicating ideas and I believe it can also have a positive effect on the health of our planet.”
What would you like to see/learn by joining the ACN? “I am excited to be part of the Apprenticeship Champion Network. I would love to share my experiences of being an apprentice because I feel like this apprenticeship is a second chance for me in life. I had gone as far as I could go in my previous career as an illustrator and didn’t know what path to take next. Finding out about apprenticeships and how they could lead me into a new career I was excited about was a revelation to me. I am an older apprentice and would love to share my experiences to help everyone considering an apprenticeship, especially those who are older and may not realise apprenticeships are open to them.”
